Known as The City Beautiful, Coral Gables identity is based in the visual realm. This city boasts wide, tree-lines avenues, plenty of green space and small, winding streets that recall a trip to Europe in the not-so-distant past.
Born in the 1920s, Coral Gables was planned on a massive scale, designed to incorporate a Mediterranean revival style with plenty of color and details the likes of which had not been seen in urban planning up to that point in time. Another vision of George Merrick, this time he designed a glorious suburb, one in which combined grand buildings and spacious plazas with fountains, all surrounded by collections of houses that emulate the styles of the Colonial, French, Dutch, South African and Han Chinese periods. |

| Some of the attractions here in Coral Gables are the well-maintained landmarks that call this picturesque city home. One glimpse of the Coral Gables City Hall will tell it all, the interior is painted with otherworldly murals and a unique portico. Or just take a quick stroll down the road to the two large fountains that make the beginning of the Country Club of Coral Gables Historic District and the many historic homes that lay beyond.
Looking for a pool that was carved out of a spring fed coral rock quarry? Look no farther as the community boasts one of these (how many towns can say that!) and it is a favorite attraction of both young and old alike. Then there is the University of Miami, built in 1925 and it is the oldest center of higher education in the greater Miami-Dade County area. In addition, if there needed to be frosting on this cake, the University is home to the Lowe Art Museum, for those who are so compelled. Also located on campus is the Bill Cosford Cinema, the Ring Theater and the Gusman Concert Hall, adding to the cultural footprint this community brings to the table.

| If it werent enough that the Coral Gables area is home to some pretty fantastic sights, sounds and attractions, it is also home to some pretty fantastic restaurants too. This could be considered as one of the epicenters of the cuisine scene here in South Florida, and buy the looks of it, that is a good guess. The restaurants here run the gamut of popular styles, and with a handful of notable chefs makes a dining excursion here one that is gastronomically pleasing to all those involved. Some of the most popular styles in the area include French, Spanish, Brazilian, Cuban, Italian, Nouvelle Tropical and American steak houses, and host of smaller cafes and coffee shops thrown in for good measure. After the main dining rush is over, these establishments mellow out, as the more refined crowd demand a more esoteric existence, with the smooth sound of jazz wafting through the air, a latte in your hand and deep conversations proliferating the warm tropical atmosphere. |
