Discreetly tucked away in Miami Dade County, and taking up a mere ¾ of a mile is the village of Bal Harbour. This hamlet for the well to do is a great, albeit small, place to go shopping, dine in a wonderful Trattoria or just keep your eyes open for one of the many celebrities that frequent the area. The main avenue here is Collins Avenue, its wide reach lined with tall and stately palm trees and other indigenous foliage. This grand avenue is bordered on one side by the glistening waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and on the other side is the gated entrance to the village's residential neighborhood. The ocean side is home to Bal Harbours two luxury resorts and tall condominium towers overlooking the white sands of the beach, and the other side is home to low-rise apartments that grace the avenue.

Bal Harbour is a shoppers Nirvana, with more upscale shops and designer names here than any other ¾' s of a mile in the country. Bal Harbour Shops is the destination in the village, and by the looks of it, it is a very popular one at that. This mall is designed to retain its open air feel, yet protect guests from the elements, tossing in some very tropical flowers for a swath of color and texture against the marble and water that is predominate throughout. This mall rivals the likes of London, Milan, New York, Paris and even Sydney for its high-end retailers. With Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue anchoring this renowned mall, you know that you are in for something special. Come and explore the offerings from Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Hermes, Georg Jensen, Chanel, Christofle, Tiffany & Co., Bulgari, Prada and Pratesi and find out why so many are attracted to Bal Harbour.

Tired of the beach and the sun, looking to get out of the shops and find a comfortable place to set your bags down and enjoy some of the finest cuisines available in the planet? Well, you are in luck, Bal Harbour is home to some of the finest bistro's, trattoria's and restaurants found anywhere in metro Miami. The hardest part of your dining experience here will be to choose which of the world -class establishments you are going to enjoy, so come and choose from Continental, Italian, Latin, seafood, steaks, sushi and New Miami World cuisine and experience Bal Harbour like never before.

Heading north out of Bal Harbour, Collins Avenue rises to a crest over the Haulover Bridge and a park beyond. Below the bridge is your best bet for activities here, and they all surround the one thing that is in abundance, besides greenbacks, here. That item would be water. Head on down to the breakwater and watch the yachts glide by and try your hand at some fishing. Sunbathing can be has right around the corner on the town's mile long curving beach, recently saved from mother nature and doubled in size for more fun in the sun. Surfing, swimming, windsurfing and the usual beach activities can also be had here. There is also a jogging and walking path that for some spectator sports or just used for a quick jog along the ocean's edge.
